My Mod Bargains wheel purchase NIGHTMARE
Purchase Date: 11/28/14
These were to be a surprise christmas gift from my wife. She had my friend do all the leg work on wheel size with the CSR Elliot in order for it to be a surprise. PLEASE NOTE I have not edited or manipulated any of my responses nor those of Mod Bargains. My intent is to show only the facts. 12/18 - First correspondence looking to see if wheels would make it for christmas. We were told they were in quality control and tracking would be given shortly. To which my friend enthusiastically responded, Great customer service this far and thanks. 12/23 - Friend was notified wheels would not make it in time for christmas but should arrive shortly after. 12/29- Friend was told one of the wheels had a “Defect” that didn’t pass inspection. In spite of this wheels should ship by the end of the following week. 1/9/15 - Finally after not hearing anything from Elliot my friend reached out asking for status. 1/12/15 - Elliot responded they were in quality inspection but should be shipping at the end of the week. So, 1/16/15 tracking should be provided. 1/16/15 - Friend emailed to see if status had changed. Elliot responded saying wheels should ship at the beginning of the following week as he had stated prior. (That last comment had us asking ourselves when he had said that) So 1/19/15 would be our new shipping date. 1/20/15 - We waited all day on 1/19 and heard nothing. So we reached out again and were told the wheels were being picked up from Forgestar on 1/21 and that he would provide tracking then. 1/23/15 - Still no word from Elliot with tracking. So we reached out again to Elliot. His response was he had no answer but would get back to us shortly. 1/27/15 - After not hearing back from Elliot I called Mod bargains to get status and was told that my wheels were custom and took longer to make. They also said they would let Elliot know that I had called and he would get back to me. 1/28/15 - Elliot called my wife rather than myself. She has no knowledge at this point about what is going on and is told wheels would be shipping any day now. 1/29/15 - Not knowing Elliot has called my wife I email Elliot directly. Asking for a REAL time frame and to Elliot’s credit he actually emailed back the same day. He said Forgestar just got back to him and “I guarantee wheel will ship 100% tomorrow.” which would have been 1/30/15 1/30/15 - At 4:30 pm I email Elliot saying I’m holding my breath that he’s going to give me tracking before the day ends. He responds saying he is just waiting to hear from Forgestar. 2/2/15 - I email Elliot asking him if Forgestar just lies to him to get him to go away and stop bugging them. 2/3/15 - Elliot emails me with tracking 2/4/15 - After waiting almost 24 hours for tracking to work I email him asking why UPS cannot find the numbers he gave me. Elliot responds “let me check with my warehouse to see whats going on.” 2/4/15 - After waiting 4 hours for Elliot to get back to me I started to get upset and emailed him asking why he had not responded and that I was starting to think I may need to call my credit card company. 2/5/15 - Elliot responded saying they had just barely opened the boxes to check the wheels (what happened to quality check was this not already done?) and one of the wheels was a different color than the others and they would have to send it back again to get re-powder coated. He mentioned talking to his boss about getting me compensated for the trouble I had been put through in hopes that I would not involve the credit card company. 2/5/15 - I responded I was out of patience. That Forgestars location was 19 minutes or 7.7 miles from Mod bargains (thank you Google) and he or someone should drive them there now and get it fixed today. I gave him until 2/7/15 4 PM to provide me a working tracking number or I would call my credit card company. My Perspective: The last part took place this morning and I haven’t heard back. I fully understand I’m working with a custom wheel, but when someone tells you should ship tomorrow or later this week you tend to believe them. If I would have been told when the one wheel failed I would have to wait another 6 weeks it would have sucked but thats what I would have expected. I'm much more upset than I'm conveying in this post. Especially considering all the holes in the stories Elliot has told me, but am hopeful that Mod bargains can get this resolved with the time frame I provided. Perhaps Mod Bargains is a good company and just Elliot should be held responsible for what has transpired. Either way it sucks to be me. I will post what happens as this transaction has almost 2 full days until time runs out.

Unfortunate, I've only had good experiences with Mod-Bargains. Hopefully they'll set everything right.

Hmmm that's interesting I was on the mod-bargains forum and they were just complaining about you. They said their promise from 12/29 still stands, "your wheels will ship next week." Just be patient.
Let me get back into their forum and get an update for you... I'll get right back to you.... I promise.

Ok ok so I got an update from them for you. They told me to wait a solid 4-5 days before I passed this on to you just for good measure, but I'm going to do you a solid. Here is what they gave me.

I would cancel this order and move on. I ordered some Forgestar wheels a couple of years ago. After the standard 4 week wait I was told it might be another four......I immediately cancelled and haven't looked back. Save yourself some frustration...........Phil

**********s has been great with everything i have ordered. I have heard stories about issues with Forgestar and delays. I would have cancelled my order a long time ago though because of Forgestar's delay clearly, not **********s. They do owe you a solid for this delay....

What can they do for that kind of delay after promising wheels? Forget that shit... I would have said fu$k it along time ago. If I was told that from the get go, that's a different story. Elliot im my experience is a nice guy. It's unfortunate and maybe he was only going by what he had to deal with from Forgestar?

Vendors should make it clear when ordering custom wheels that they have no idea when they'll get them and no guarantee. I've seen it happen too many times.
I understand they are reliant on the manufacture but they should not make promises they can't keep. I ordered a custom set from Works and they took 4 months. I was told 2-3 months, but atleast my vendor was honest keeping me updated on the status at Work and letting me know they haven't left Japan yet. |

Well this seems to be a DOUBLE FAIL.
"Custom made" is not a magical word that let's suppliers deliver their goods whenever they want. Although you should expect potential delays with a custom product...having the ETA changed so many times leads me to think that they haven't nailed down their manufacturing processes (or just have shoddy equipment and/or questionable operators). On the flip side, **********s should have provided you much better customer service to insulate you from the issues coming from the Manufacturer

I had a similar (but not nearly as lengthy) issue with my Forgestar order through a different vendor here. In my case the vendor was great at providing updates throughout the entire process, and made it very clear that sometimes it was near to impossible to get a straight answer from Forgestar. Mine went through "quality inspection" at Forgestar, after which Forgestar somehow only had 3 of my 4 wheels. It took another 2+ weeks for the 4th wheel to show up and finally get shipped. I feel pretty confident in saying that the problem lies with Forgestar, not with your vendor. The vendor gets put in a bad situation being the middle man when Forgestar's service at times seems to be horrible.

I was told that wheels (at least for Forgestar) ordered from BodMargains (see what I did there lol) were powder coated by BodMargains. Is this what you were told?
The one wheel probably was a different color cause it was powder coated by someone different!

Oh and one more thing that bugged me with my purchase:
I spent weeks researching tire/wheel size and fitment since I wanted to squeeze 305s in the rear. I called to place the order KNOWING what size I wanted. A few weeks later, I see one of their blogs saying how their professionals suggested I go a larger size like the 305! BS!

I have been told that it was Forgestar doing the powder coating. I have no doubt they were powder coated by different people as one of my wheels first failed quality inspection in December and was sent back and now has been coated with the wrong finish. As of this morning I'm fairly certain Elliot is making an effort as he has emailed me 2x unfortunately it appears as though they are still at bodbargains warehouse as he took pictures to send me. Which is a bummer I had hoped they would have them getting refinished today and they might be but it doesn't appear that way.

I just got off the phone with Elliot with my Forgestar order and he seems to be an excellent customer service rep.
I'm thinking that Forgestar may be a difficult company to work with. Also got the "your two front wheels didn't pass quality inspection" speech. I'd rather wait the time than have any imperfections. Luckily it's still winter. Plus, we went ahead and did 9.5" fronts instead of 10" (my bragging rights are gone...booooo). Anyway...I really don't think it's MB's fault. Seems like things at Forgestar can get pretty aggravating.

There's usually about or at least a 3 month lead time for custom made forged wheels. By "custom" meaning it's not in their standard production specs i.e different offsets, color, size, width, etc. IIRC, you're paying premium for this service to be different. But what do I know though, I only buy items if they're on stock, ready to ship. I can get very impatient...
