G80 Brake Lubrication
Hello guys, My G80 makes a weird noise while braking. It doesn’t sound like the usual G80s braking problem, it’s more like a squeaky sound that toy cars make. A squeaking sound on a regular interval, the frequency of the noise increases at higher speeds and decreases while slowing down.
The thing is, after a wash the car stops making the sound for a while, and comes back after driving for a while. I thought I’ll skim the rotors. And I wanted to know if it is necessary to grease the brakes? I’m guessing it has to do something with lubrication because we can’t hear it after car washes. Please advise! |

Are you asking if you should be lubricating (a process designed to reduce friction) a piece of the car that's designed specifically to apply as much friction as possible to another piece of the car?
...no. You don't hear it after a wash because the rotors/pads are a bit wet and that's absorbing the friction for a bit before they're both dry. These are high-quality brakes. They'll squeal. Nothing you can do about it. Last edited by Berzerker; 08-01-2023 at 09:06 AM.. |

Obviously I didn’t mean to grease the point of contact between rotors and pads. I saw threads about greasing the underside of the pads and other areas (I’ve attached a photo).
As I said it doesn’t sound like the normal sound performance brakes make. I’ll try skimming the rotors and see if it still exists and update. |

As far as the sound, I'm not sure what sound you're referring to, I was assuming you meant a squeal of the pads on rotors, but if you're referring kind of a downward "whooshing" sound (as best as I can describe it) that gets lower as you slow down, I hear the same thing. I believe it's part of the hydraulic system, perhaps the brake fluid, not sure if it's an issue with friction or not that lubrication would fix. |

You can curb it for a bit doing some repeated heavy breaking or bedding like you do on new pads, but it'll come back on the OEM pads.
Switch to isweep or EBC pads to do away w the sound. |

Guys I skimmed the brakes and it was fine for almost 1k km. But yesterday I parked the car in a lot with some sand, I don’t know if that is the reason but the sound is back. Please help me figure out the reason. I’ve attached a link with some videos of the sound if that helps.
