Automatic start/stop

Is there any way to turn the start/stop feature off completely? I used to be able to turn it off in comfort mode and it would remember the off setting the next time I got in the car. After an update for the car it seems this feature to remember the last setting is no longer working. It remembers in sport mode, but then I’m hitting the sport mode once I start the car each time, and I frankly don’t want to be driving in sport mode at all times.

The car turning off at stops drives me nuts.

Yes for Pre-LCI (2019-2022), no for LCI (2023+)

I just went through this with my 2022. I ended up using the bimmercode app to have the car start in sport mode and then I changed all the sport settings to comfort. Sport mode automatically disables the auto start stop. Not the most ideal solution. The memory function you described didn't work for me, but if you used bimmercode originally to activate that function, you may have to go back in and do it again after an update.

Disable the traction in the menu. It will automatically disable the auto start/stop without going to the Sport mode. It will remain active unless you activate the cruise control. This is how I drive all the time.

If you are on the Pre-LCI, you used to be able to use bimmercode to set the ASS (Auto Start Stop) to remember last setting.
That went away in the 03/2023 Idrive software update. If you have 03/2023 or newer software, you need to set your default drive mode to Sport or Sport Individual. In one of these modes ASS will stay disabled, even if you set all the settings of the mode to comfort.

After an OTA update, most settings revert back to default values, so you'll need to use bimmercode to re-code these changes.

That's incorrect. ASS will not stay disabled in sport mode individual if you set the drivetrain to comfort. You used to be able to do that pre-lci.

I have had mine in sport individual with comfort drivetrain since fall of 2023 and ASS has stayed off.

Interesting. Maybe they changed the software? My 2024 x7 m60i wouldn't do it. And many others on here have reported that it didn't work. I haven't even tried it with my new 2025 X7 yet. Will report back soon.

I'm on a 2020 pre-lci with idrive 7 on 03/2023.50. Got the OTA last fall at which point the ASS memory from Bimmercode stopped working and so I put it into Sport Individual with all settings in comfort except suspension. I've done about 8k miles in this mode and ASS has not kicked in once.

I have 11/2023.50 pending since February of this year. Don't know if it's going to change that behavior after it installs. Going to dealer next week to have them install 11/2023.50 or whatever latest is.

Nevermind. I thought you had an lci. 2023 model year. Yeah it works on pre-lci vehicles. I had my 2021 coded.
