How well do you know the United States?

Place the states on a map.
http://sickflash.com/usa_education.html

The states come up randomly so the difficulty really depends on which ones you get first.

45/50- I got like all of the darn square midwest states wrong haha they all look the same

90% right
average error 39 miles
279 seconds

shimshimhada 05-27-2006 09:18 PM

68%

Average Error: 68 miles

Time: 187 seconds

This is lame though, I knew where the general locations where. And that voice makes me want to strangle someone.

mava330 05-27-2006 11:01 PM

40/50 - 80%
Avg Error: 82 miles
Time: 350 sec

juicytofu 05-29-2006 10:24 PM

95% error 15 miles

Buckman 05-29-2006 10:47 PM

76% , 87 miles, 214 seconds. Ho hum, need some more grade 3 Canadian geography (or sleep). Make sure your score is better than this Albertan!

BeeEmDubU 05-29-2006 11:01 PM

70%
88 miles
276 sec

ward 05-29-2006 11:03 PM

it was a bitch to place the states in the middle when you didn't have any reference, easy to miss by a few miles!

yeah that was my problem too. :P

shimshimhada 05-29-2006 11:31 PM

I'd probably do better for a world map version of this.

Neil 05-29-2006 11:39 PM

I thought some would snap in place when you got pretty close so I got lazy with the really really obvious ones like Texas and it gave me an error.

Ended up with 42 out of 50 | 84% | 35 Miles | 225sec

ksfrogman 05-29-2006 11:51 PM

40 perfect out of 50 turns
Score 80%
Avg Error 47 miles

Great minds think exactly alike! 80% here too. But 350 seconds instead of your 428... my young mind is processing information faster? :confused2 :bellyroll

Ha! Look at the Avg Error distance though. I took my time to place my states closer to where they belonged. :slap:

Robin_NL 05-30-2006 01:42 AM

First time 35(70%) and 500 seconds or so. And I don't even live there:)

Robin_NL 05-30-2006 01:43 AM

Let's try a map of Africa now:laugh:

My first try was not so good, 65% and 350secs, but as I am not living in the US I think it is reasonable.

Second try was much better (Apparently I have quite a good short term memory ;) ) 82% 308secs

Pazzuzzu 05-30-2006 06:23 AM

82% average 66 miles 348 seconds.

Not bad for a igloo inhabitor from Montreal who eats beaver and seal and has snow all year'round.

bimmer4me 05-30-2006 07:13 AM

86%, 29 miles

dbstang 05-30-2006 07:36 AM

88% 28 miles 329 seconds

pawarrant 05-30-2006 11:43 AM

47 perfect out of 50 turns, 94%, 7 miles, 360 seconds

e90rocks 05-30-2006 12:06 PM

States

300 sec
98% correct
5 mi average error
It probably also helped me that a few times in my life I have tried to draw the US map on a chalkboard from scratch. (I know, get a life).

Only trouble was placing one plains state in w/o neighbors or rivers. If you miss Alaska or Hawaii, I think you should consider moving to Canada, if you can find it.

One way to improve scores would be to drive across the country once, like I did with my brother. That was way cool, but would have been cooler in my e90!

I was wondering why people had so much difficulty, but after I showed it to someone, I found that the order of States is somewhat important in determining how well one does.
