I sat on hold for about 10 min and had to go through a few different secretaries and eventually got on the phone with the DA and told him what happened and he asked me a few questions, took about 5 min, and at the end of the conversation he told me he would drop the ticket as long as I mailed a copy of the ticket and a check for the court fees ($80, ticket was $219) to his office before my court date and the ticket would be dropped. Literally that easy, I was amazed. Don't know how many times you can pull that card, but I will be trying it if it happens again.

Im pretty sure thats what the attorneys do, thats why you never have to show up at the "court" date after you hire them.
