Found a silicone gasket maker at local auto parts store, feel better with that on vs. just sticking the thing in the frame solo.
In case anyone stumbles on this thread looking for the same answers, I've attached a couple photos of the silicone tube, applied to the jack pad, and the new jack pad installed!
