Once the car comes off the truck, they do a safety check, remove the suspension blocks then put a gas in it. They are not allowed to have someone test drive the car without a safety check, which is pretty much the only mechanical check.....after that its off to detail department.
On that note, I have specifically asked my dealer NOT to do a PDI and took the car home after above initial steps were completed. I like to do my own details.
My conclusion is that either their detail department is backed up or they screwed up something on the car (most likely) and they are telling you bunch of stories. I am also not sure what "stress test" they are talking about......

So maybe they did the "initial steps" like yours such that I can test drive it. But they didn't do PDI?
I will demand a PDI report when I pick up the car, what else do you think I can do to make sure they didn't screw up things?
