Fuck this. I had to go through letting two dogs go four years ago. It's the goddam worst thing. But, and you have to remember this, please don't keep the pup alive for your sentiment. If you know it's bad and the dog has to be hospitalized again, then that is the time to proceed with the euthanasia. Right now it's obvious the dog is reacting to the meds that were just provided. When I got the call by my vet that my dog had an inoperable cancer and I went to see her, she was acting just like her old self. My vet said it was pain meds. Ah fuck, I'm starting to cry right now. And well, he said the dignified thing to do is let her go. So right there my wife and I held her and she crossed the rainbow bridge. This was four years ago and I still miss her every day. Then six months later we lost our other dog.

I feel your pain and I'm so sorry you have to go through this right now.

Hang in there. And remember, we all have one "great" pet companion no matter what anyone says about another dog filling the void. Yes, it's good to get another, but you truly know which dog was the great one after you have had to lose a few like I have.

RIP Vegas. I still miss you everyday.
