Very hard to judge boot space by quoted volume figures.
I went and watched Autogefuhl reviews of the current X5 vs. the iX. The dimensions of floor space are virtually identical, as is the height to the cover.
iX:
Floor length, seat backs to hatch - 1m / 40"
Width - 1m 5cm / 41 / 42"
Height to cover - 47cm / 19"
Overall height - 75cm / 30"
X5:
Floor length, seat backs to hatch - 1m
Width - 1m 10cm
Height to cover - 45cm
Overall height - "almost" 80cm
It does look a lot boxier though. The rear hatch is much more upright and it looks like the sides don't come in as much.
That's why I hate relying on figures and measurements.
