Then they need to adjust it by removing a washer or two and it will be fine.
As for feeling a bit wobbly or similar - after the first few shifts when the pedal is pushed to the floor, that should drive it into place and it should be fine. I've had one in my M2c since new (24k miles) and in my Golf R (50k), solid as the day they were installed. And very effective.
