Sensationalism get views, there's no way around it.
I'm sure we can all remember the riots in Portland in 2020. If you listened to the media, the entire city was engulfed in a Purge-esque level of violence and mayhem. I worked downtown during that time in the Federal Building which happened to be right next to ground zero of the riots.
What the media didn't tell you is that 1. It primarily took place in a 3x1 block area, 2. It only happened at night. I would walk by the area to get lunch and it was completely normal (except for the barricades). Go a few blocks in any direction and you would have had no idea that anything different was happening. When people find out I'm from Portland, they still bring it up to this day. "How did you survive the riots". Lol, I just stayed away from the small area after dark for a few weeks.
