How much longer you have to go to hit pension? I'm assuming for police the lifespan required to hit "retirement" is much shorter than your average public service employee.

I have 13 years left. That’ll get me to 20 years with my current department, and 7.5 years with my prior state department. I might try to buy back the 4 years I spent non-sworn with San Bernardino County, but that’ll depend on cost. If I can retire with no-debt besides my house, I’ll be in good shape. Everything is paid off except the 911, but I have that on a fast-track plan to get the $87k I owe paid off in 2.5-3 years.
