I prefer PW over a Hose. There is less water introduced into the engine bay as such too

Just cover what's needed, a lil APC brush on what needs to be brushed.
Pressure wash rinse. The PW knocks off dirt off areas I can't reach and it's LESS water than a hose.I don't have qualms using one.

Just take a blower and blow the engine bay afterwards to get water out of the nooks and crannies like the top of a strut top, etc that may hold water. If you don't have a blower, I suppose a decent drive afterwards achieves the same

U stated it's a 20 year old vehicle...the belts might be a bit squeaky for the initial drive until it dries.
