I have to agree with
TXSTYLE . The only way this trade makes sense is if the Mavericks win a championship or two within the next few years, anything else is just FAILURE! But even then, I feel that it doesn’t make sense. This is a short term bet!
Personally, I feel like the Mavericks gambled on their future by giving up their 25 year old franchise player who was in the prime of his career and took the organization to last years championship, for a 31 year old All-Star who has missed an average of 35 games per season the last three years and 232 games in his entire career. Not quite sure that is a risk I would have taken! Hell, it took Dirk 7 years to get to his first finals and 12 years to win his first championship!
I just feel like The Mavericks and the organization gave up on Luka!
Unfortunately we will never know if Luka could have brought another championship to Dallas! However, it would have been worth it to keep him and see what the Mavs could have built around him to bring the next championship!
The pressure now lies on Harrison and upper management to produce. Had this been Cuban, this deal would have NEVER happened! Can’t wait to hear Luka’s side of this trade!
