Scary encounter but glad you are ok.
I remember a friend involved in an X3 (2nd gen) accident with many fatalities, 3-4 cars involved in highway, thankfully not any death in his car though. He was very impressed with the passive safety features of the car. He was describing it and comparing it like a steel beam would press on a piece of plasticine. Everything worked perfectly to save him and his family on board. He said he would never drive other than a BMW. Not a scratch anyone in the car.
Although not the same car in terms of mass and technology, one can relate to new tech passive safety features.
