The car's user manual is a valid source of terminology to start with.
Words have certain meanings for a reason which is conveying the sense.
If you can't say it they fail to understand. If you mean the engine doesn't start reliably there can be various reasons, ignition related as well. Take the car to the service and show them what your concern is. If you fail to show it as well
(you say it doesn't happen often yet) they can read errors that should be stored in the car's memory. Just don't use voice commands to avoid overflowing the car's memory with errors (it's a joke!).
