I asked, and my CA said he couldn't find out. I assume it's for liability reasons, like with the 335i not having it on all cars, and BMW having to retrofit it on some of those. Why would they make a blanket statement that they may be held liable for, or make them look bad...
I hope mine has the cooler, but I think it may not (even though I have the 6sp and ZSP - seemingly the unspoken magic requirement for one on the 335i). If it doesn't, given the issues with some 335is, then I know that BMW either found another way to keep the engine from overheating or they cheaped out. If my car overheats and/or goes into limp mode, BMW is going to have to remedy that situation so that it no longer occurs.
