There are definitely some rapidly spreading cancers out there. I had Burkitt's Lymphoma as a child, and it's been a while since I looked up the statistics, but I think it was something like 3 weeks before the mortality index rises above 80%; which is to say, 80% of patients who don't begin treatment within 3 weeks of the cancer's development end up dying. Although I'm sure modern treatments have improved those odds.

I urge any smokers out there to stop. Going through cancer is not a pleasant experience, I had the benefit of being young and oblivious but I can't imagine going through it again.
