Of the 350 something "friends" I have on facebook, only about 15 or so would I consider really really close friends. Probably only 7 would I consider BFFs.
Those are the only people who are happy for you. Most everyone else is jealous or thinks you're an idiot; especially those who aren't in the same "place" you are in life. You younger members will come to realize this as you get older.
I had a meeting last month with a guy who saw me pull up in my car. That was a knock against me right from the start. I'm 29 and driving a BMW convertible, he's 60-ish and driving a 1998 Toyota.
After about 2 minutes, he goes "oh those are Prada shoes, huh, I know those were really expensive." And instead of saying, "yeah, these babies set me back $500." I told him they were knockoffs.
