True to an extent, but if you've had decent gait running up until now the adjustment period to "barefoot" or minimalistic shoes shouldn't really a huge deal. If you're running 25mi a week then you should be able to gauge how you're doing pretty well - the transition should maybe take the effect of an extended transition into a new pair of shoes. 50-75% distance at 50-75% pace depending on your comfort level and go from there without over extending your body's resources
