I think it was some ice with some snow on top of it, thats the only explanation. Still though, slowing down and proper tires would have made a huge difference. There is a reason its law in Germany (and maybe other places in Europe) to have winter tires on your car in winter. They make it so my car isnt an extra large hockey puck when its snowing/icy or just plain cold out.
