I lived in St. Louis for 40 years and the last 4 here in Seattle. Yeah, there are some steep hills in the midwest. In Seattle, damn near EVERY street is a steep hill and many are off camber as well.

As another poster mentioned, it's ice on the bottom and then compact snow which is basically another layer of ice. To compound that, unlike the midwest where the street departments put more salt and chemicals on the road than snow itself, the reverse is true here. Thanks to the tree-huggers and their concern for the salmon, if we're lucky we get a little sand tossed on top of the ice and maybe a shot of chemical de-icer that does nothing.

Easy to arm chair quarterback, but it's another thing to experience it live and in person.

FWIW, my E90 335i navigated the mess without issue but it certainly had its moments.
