Not really. BMW simply sees the US for what it is: a very large third world market with underdeveloped infrastructure and uneducated customers.

BMW rarely officially states anything before the official PR (unless it's a halo car that gets promoted in CEO interviews and at various shows). However, I know with full certainty that the US iX1 was still in the plans as recently as April.
