BMW boss Zipse recently said again that they would like to continue producing and selling vehicles with ICE for a long time. Probably simply because too much investment has not yet been recouped and too rapid job cuts in this area would be politically sensitive in the region.
Here in Europe, however, with the constantly tightening CO2 limits and high penalties, they have no choice and must sell more and more pure EVs.
You in the US, on the other hand, have fallen far behind in terms of environmental developments and legislation thanks to Trump. So an ideal market to make some money out of the old technology. I think it's that simple.
