You in the US, on the other hand, have fallen far behind in terms of environmental developments and legislation thanks to Trump. So an ideal market to make some money out of the old technology. I think it's that simple.
Americans can't allow the thought that other countries can do some things better. They get that stupid exceptionalism idea drilled into them by everyone, from parents to schools to the media, and it makes them blind to real problems. Especially those that benefit from government intervention (read: infrastructure).
