It's different in Ohio or Montana or Colorado because very few people live there. Most Americans live in cities just like Europeans do. Moreover, the American suburban life, with most families keeping their cars in their private garages, should be an advantage for EV charging. Any homeowner can add a charging point for their car as they desire. In Europe, more people have to rely on public charging or their landlords.

And that's actually the key point: the "staid" European bureaucracies are building new infrastructure faster than the "nimble" American enterprises.
