USA build
in my case, it was about 6 weeks from start of production(as reported on the BMW USA website) to the day I accepted delivery

this is from the notes that I kept last year:

X1 xDrive28i M Sport - production scheduled

April 10 production begin

April 16 ext. body assembly begin

April 18 paint booth

April 21 assembly in progress

April 22 awaiting carrier assignment

April 23 dispatched from factory

April 25 at port in Germany

April 27 to May 17 car carrier ship at sea

May 18 ship arrives in the US(Brunswick port, Georgia)

May 22 car delivered by truck at BMW dealer

May 23 took delivery from the salesman

EDITED: I meant 2 months and not 2 weeks.

If you're east coast USA I would plan on 2 months as a rough estimate. The unknown is the time it sits at the European port waiting to get on a ship. Historically, that can be from a few days (as in the example above) to a month or more in some cases.

If on the west coast, add another few weeks.

You can get some sample timelines from 2024 at https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ighlight=build

when that huge container destroyed the bridge in Baltimore earlier this year, my friend's order was delayed by over 2 months.

Thanks for the info. With the stop sale and no end in sight this seems to be a logical step

Thanks for the link. My brother in law had his build drop into the ocean when they were taking off the ship! 2024 build in June purchased off the lot in August. Then stop sale. Don’t want a 2024 delivered later than oct. seems prudent to just build one

Really? I thought BMW's site for offloading cars was not beyond the FSK Bridge?

car carrying ship trapped there, indicated by the red star. it eventually got out, but arrived in Georgia port about 6 weeks late. Then the logistics of car carrying trucks caused another couple of weeks of delay. apparently of trucks were sent up to Baltimore to "rescue" other cars from different brands like Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz to carry them from Baltimore to Florida.

kind of amusing that FSK is still shown as "temporarily" closed as of today.

Well the same folks must be installing the I-95 signage, which don't have a "BRIDGE OUT" warning sign along I-95 at the I-695E exits.

bad signage pales in comparison to the huge chaos that will happen next week if the massive strike go on as scheduled next week up and down the almost all East Coast ports. I normally have zero sympathy for people who go on strikes without cause or justification... however, the ILA and their 80000+ dockworkes are some of the rare ones that have a legitimate case... of course, I hope all sides can reach an agreement, as unlikely as it seems.

hopefully it won't affect port operations that badly, at least not bad enough to cause delays for people who have incoming BMWs from Germany.

or it could be worse:

In the be USA 2 months from order date to landing at dealer sounds about right.
We ordered 3rd week of October 2023 & picked it up a dealer just before new years
