Anyone planning ED for their M340i? What quotes are you getting? Any good deals offered yet? Please share your data

I just went through the process and basically you negotiate the best price you can for the car and then just deduct 5% for ED.
I ended up not doing ED because unluckily the week I’m in Germany at the end of June is the same week the factory will be closed. |

Surprised no one is soliciting quotes for ED? I guess the 5% is not as attractive as it used to be

I've been told that the dealers don't have as much flexibility on pricing for ED because their payment structure from BMW is different than on cars that come out of their dealership allotment.
So just be prepared that if you choose ED you will likely not get as good of a price (before the ED incentive) than you would if you take US delivery. I haven't confirmed this yet, but I have also seen other posts say that if you do ED you don't get the financing or other rebates anymore. So that, along with any other incentives may equal the ED incentive in which case you're better off with US delivery unless you're doing it for the experience. I'll be doing ED in September, have done it once before, and highly recommend it for the experience alone. Hope the information helps! |

Couldn't tell you the last time I had someone ask for an ED quote. The fact that the discount is 5% now and you don't get any of the rebates either, it's made it more about the experience than price.

If you can 5% off ED delivery, plus the included 5% off the ED discount, that's 10% in total. If folks are getting 10% off non-ED delivery, then the historical cost savings of going the ED route is nonexistent it would seem.

Thanks for the info It seems everyone agrees that you can get a better deal if you do US delivery
I have done ED before on my F10 and while I agree the whole experience is well worth it, the wait from the time you order the car until you receive it stateside is about six months, too long 😱 So as for German built versus Mexican built cars, can you put in your order sheet that you want a German built car otherwise you refuse delivery... is that possible 🤔 |

This new M340 will be my first non ED car. I have done it now 5 times since 2001 and the cost of the lease is around $100+ per month now. Not worth the time and effort to spend all the extra $$$ plus the extra month or two you pay for a car that is not in your garage yet. I decided if I get the urge to drive a nice BMW I will rent one from Sixt have no worries that my car will get scratched, etc LOL
As a data point its around 3-4 mos from order to my garage here in LA. My 2014 430 was 88 days from start to end and my 2017 340 was 92 days. Both got an extra week in customs |

I am planning on trying to get a deal for an ED of an M340 by the end of the month, and can someone confirm or deny what I assume is correct - is the invoice to the dealer the same for a US and ED car, regardless of the 5% discount off ED MSRP? So, in theory, we have the same margin to work with the dealer, except for perhaps the incentives?

From my research and speaking with BMW European delivery, it’s 5% off the MSRP, the discount does not apply to upgrades and excludes any state side incentives. Has anyone experienced anything different from this?

One thing for sure is that ED is not what it used to be. This is the 1st BMW that I bought where I did not consider doing ED.

This is my first time doing the ED as I will already by close to Munich for work, made sense since the trip was free. However, the incentives were way less than what I could have gotten if I just bought the care here. But in my situation I am doing it for the experience and to corss it off the bucket list!
