Where's Apple CarPlay?

CarPlay is going to be available now on Mercedes vehicles in 2016. I thought BMW and Apple has been in close contact in the last. If so, why no CarPlay yet?

Car manufactures are hesitant to put it in their cars because Apple wants complete access to car data. So does google. So essentially it allows google and Apple to data log their cars which would spill secrets for them to use.
The next issue is CarPlay is super super buggy and I am sure Bmw is worried about it giving their customers a bad experience. I think it would ruin idrive. Idk if you have ever used it but it's horrible. Maybe in a few years it will be really good. Keep in mind this is coming from a die hard Apple fan. I have it in my pioneer nex 4100 and it's a nightmare.

+1. from what I've seen of CarPlay, it's a touch screen interface. I can not stand touch screens. what makes iDrive so great is that you can easily manipulate the interface with the wheel. this allows you to use it much more easily when you're driving since you don't need to awkwardly reach to touch the screen. no thanks. I think the iDrive is amazing, especially this most recent iteration. my 2016 is extremely quick/snappy.

Early BMW iPod kits were manufactured by Alpine.
