No 2022 RWD Allocations on East Coast

Hi Everyone,

Put a deposit down on a 2021 M3 Comp, missed the allocation window before the switchover to the 2022, now am being told by my dealer (and another one I checked with in NJ) that there are no RWD cars being allocated for the foreseeable future by the East Region. Has anyone else heard this?

That's bs. I put a deposit for allocation on April 16 for a 21 base in Florida. I got my allocation Friday last week for build week 28 for a 22 model

It might be bs, but base is different than a rwd comp

The dealers are all speculating they do not know when they are going to get an allocation it can be next week it can be 2-3 months they don't know

It was harder, for sure. 2022 where there are 3 choices (base, rwd comp, awd comp)???

In another thread a US dealer said the allocations are interchangeable. So, I agree it's probably BS, just don't know if comparing your experience to an allocation for a base is the best data point.

Both of them told me they were told by the BMW Regional Manager for the East in the past day or two. The concept, at least in theory, is that there is pent up demand for AWD based on 2021 delays, etc...

They are all currently interchangeable. Next round of allocations for August production is supposed to be released next week.

Good to hear - any clue about turn around time once order is placed? My 2018 M3 comp took 6 weeks but not banking on that this time around.

It's not that there are no RWD allocations; its that most dealers are flexing what they get to AWD since as others have stated, they're interchangeable.

That depends on the assigned production week. Anything that's modifiable right now will be built in July. Once production starts, you're looking at about 14 days to complete, then it goes to the port where it can sit or get lucky and get on a boat rather quickly, then about 4 weeks to the east coast and 6 to the west.

Hopefully it's quick. The waiting is the hardest part

My CA says they aren't (or are no longer?) interchangable. He actually asked their BMW NA product rep on a recent visit and was told G80 allocations were type specific. "They will all stay separate models with different individual allocations."

calbears GOLFFRR Next Level Auto Brokers does that match your experience? If not are there any details I can provide my CA (e.g., how do you go about exchanging types)?

They were interchangeable I work with the sales manager at my dealer, he showed me how he can flex all three in his ordering database. I suppose it’s possible that’s recently changed but I doubt it.

When I picked up my base M3 from Crevier yesterday, I heard something similar from my SA. They do not have an allocation for 2022s right now. They only have 2 base 2021 M4s. When I was looking for inventory of other dealerships to see where I can find a CF bucket seat to sit in a month ago, I couldn't find any G80s down here in OC.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

I spoke to someone at Crevier two days ago he told me that they have 2 buildable G80 allocations for a $15k mark-up...

News to me as I switched the 2 base models to AWD and the 2 comps we got to AWD. While they have been releasing the allocations as individual types, they are completely interchangeable. In the ordering system, once clicked into modify, there's a drop down menu to select the model type (base, Comp, AWD comp).

I guess they're keeping their cards close the chest. Maybe they don't want to do anymore base models and want to only do crazy spec'ed comp and AWD comps?

They also tried that $15k over MSRP thing on me but I just got up to leave. My SA went back and forth between me and the manager about 4 rounds till I got my order at $1k above MSRP. I took it and honestly how many times I'm I gonna be able to order a car to my exact specifications? So I'm happy with my deal eventhough it might not be a good deal for a lot of people. My base car came out at $86K.

I went in to build my allocation, a few days ago, and they originally specd me a 2022 RWD. I caught it when they printed the sheet for me to review it. I wasn't paying attention, except for the fact that the MSRP was only $74,700. The GSM went back into the system, and changed the model code. So, unless this just happened, yesterday, I had my model code changed, 3 days ago.

Hello, "TazioNYC. Trojan4ever, R3dbimmer89, Calbers, Limegrntain."

I went to BMW in Sunny Southern California to build my allocation, ( Put the Deposit down) on the last day of May, and the CA told me it was too late for a 2021 and place the order for a 2022 RWD/Comp.

I spoke to someone at Crevier last week they have 2 in the showroom for a $15k mark-up..( No Thanks)

As a result of this Thread, I went in to talk with the CA Manager yesterday to ask, how the allocations are ordered? Is it specific to the type of car or is it just an allocation for any M3/M4. He essentially, told me I'm the first in line for the first allocation that comes in to order a 2022 M4 Comp. However, he asked me if I wanted to change to AWD. I said no! ......... I'm still waiting!
