hands free Kick to Open Cargo Door

I’ve had my 2024 x1 for 15 months & recently I’ve noticed that the cargo door does not always open or closing when using my foot. I had worked flawlessly though in past month or so, more often than not, I’ve had to open using the rubber switch near license plate.
My 19 Acura RDX with same feature has never faulted in over 6 years.

I would appreciate a reply from anyone who has had the same problem.

I haven't used it in a while, but my experience with my X1, and with my 328 before, is that it was finicky and you have to hit the spot precisely for it to work.

Up until recently it worked just fine as my RDX has been working for years.

I’m thinking maybe the sensor(s) under the vehicle is/are dirty from recent snow & rain. I’ve not cleaned it in a month or so.

I use it regularly and it’s never failed me. In fact, out of all cars, the kick to open/close on my iX1 has worked the best, and is the most forgiving in terms of location of where you kick

I would check the sensors underneath and make sure there clean, thats the only thing I can think of, I was cleaning some leaves out of my garage and was sweeping behind my X1 and the rear cargo opened and I was like what the hell, then I figured it out.

System is stupid enough! It doesn't work when you really need it but it closes when you are putting stuff inside. Happened to me twice now.
