Perf Springs w Adaptive Suspension
Hey Guys,
so to make a long story short, m-performance suspension kit was too much of a pain to add to my order so I decided ok fine, ill deal w the 1000 m adaptive susp option. well I know its still not going to be as tight, and definitely not as low, as I want so im kicking around my options because 1) its a lease and 2) i want to retain the flexibility of the adjustable dampers, cause u know, its awesome anyway have people had success with springs on adaptive susp? would the m-performance springs work since theyre separate from the kit itself? all thoughts welcome. i do some fun daily driving and occasionally will want to track it.

I know some have H&R springs with the M-adaptive.. I know I'm considering it for the future, but only if it doesnt cause any issues or put extra stress on the dampers.

I have the adaptive suspension on my m sport. Getting my h&r sport springs fitted on Monday. So hopefully it is a straight forward job for the mechanic.

Report back after uve used it for a few days, please. Some feedback bout how it affects both comfort and sport vs oem springs, like if comfort is too sporty or if the difference between the two modes is minimized etc.. . How much lowered will it be?

Well the company that sold them to me said, the sport springs lower a standard bmw 30mm and because a m sport is already 10mm lower they will lower my car a further 20mm. So its not crazy, but hopefully enough to make it sit at a better height.

There are a lot of members on here rocking the H&R sport (and a few with super sport) springs with the adaptive dampers with no problems at all. Theres one member with the eibach springs as well. Doesnt seem like there have been any issues so far.
As for the Mperformance suspension, I havent seen anywhere that you can buy just the springs, only the full kit.

Hmm, yea the kit used to be separate, but looks like everyone is combining the kit now. $1500 for the full set of coilovers is pretty good! Too bad for us with adaptive suspension though

where are you seeing the full kit for $1500? plus, add about 750 for install right? still a toss up I guess. haven't finalized my order so I might still back out of adaptive and add this kit. im on a lease though so trying to rationalize it...

I have the H&R Sports with M Adaptive and it's great. The drop is perfect. The ride stiffened up a lil but not to the point where it's unbearable. Handling is much better. I would recommend this set up.

No. Comfort is still as you say "comforty". It's just a lil more stiff than before. You will feel it when you drive over speed bumps.

Now, what spring brand is the best; H&R, Eibach, Bilstein etc etc? On a german webshop I saw two versions of H&R springs with 20-25 mm, there was a difference of load on them like 965 vs. 966 kg... what does that tiny difference translate to in real life driving, will the 965kg-version be a little more comfortable? And is 20-25 too low for the M adaptive? Were already 10 mmīs lower, do we add to that or will it actually mean I can subtract 10 mm from those 20-25? Never lowered a car before, as you can tell

What 3 series version are the springs for? That gives you the starting point, and then any spec drop would be from the factory ride height. Is it for a standard base, luxury line, modern line? If so, then it will drop that ride height by 20-25mm from standard. That would mean that if you installed those springs on any F30 version, including sport/Msport, the drop would be the same for all of them, 20-25mm. If the springs are for an sport/Msport line, then the 20-25mm drop would be in addition to the factory ride height for the sport/Msport. That would mean the overall drop would be 30-35mm lower than a base, luxury, or modern line. That's because the sport/Msport are already 10mm lower than non sport/Msport lines. So you have to know which F30 version is the basis for the springs claimed drop. The difference in Kg could be for front and rear. The 328i is close to 50/50 weight distribution front to rear. The 335i is not as close to 50/50, there is more weight up front. So, you'd likely want a slightly stiffer spring up front compared to the rear. Since the front to rear weight difference isn't huge for the 335i, then the spring rate difference won't be as large either. To be sure ask the manufacturer for the specifics relating to your BMW. |

Well I got the h&r springs fitted yesterday and an very pleased with the height and ride of the car. Glad I went for the sport springs and not the supper sports, as recommended by jamesons. It has stiffened up a bit but still ok over bumps, the roll is reduced a little.
