Has anybody here not put in front license plate(NY/NJ/CT area)?

I don't want to drill a hole to put in the front license plate. I'm thinking of buying a front tow hook license plate holder. Does anybody running with this setup? Can you also provide pics so I know how it looks like? Thanks

There are a few threads on this. Sly brackets or going without seem to be the consensus for those that don't want to drill... also, I'm in PA and it's possible I'll look for a CPO X7 when I'm done with my current X7 lease... so please everyone, don't drill.

Here's a thread with some pics of sly brackets on both the luxury and m-sport trim:

I’ve had 6 new BMW’s the last 10 years in the NYC area with no front plate whatsoever and have never been bothered, ever, and that includes my wife who has been pulled over a few times and a few fender benders where the police were called.

Just tell your dealer to not drill holes, throw the plate in your trunk, and don’t give it a second thought.

Normally NYC cops will leave you alone, not worth the effort. However, once in a blue moon you will encounter that one stickler for the rules, or just a pissed off one. I received an appearance ticket for the missing front plate back in early 2000's in addition to following too closely (we all know this is BS ticket especially in NY). The judge gave me a choice, affix the front license plate, or loose the registration. Guess which way it went ......

You should have asked the judge if he “feels like a big man enforcing such arbitrary rules at this point in his pathetic career.” The situation might have gone better for you.

The day I get pulled over, I'm going to have a shocked look on my face when the cop mentions my missing front plate. I have forgotten that it's missing. Knock on wood, but no one has harassed me here in Denver.

Reportedly, the PCD asks you if you want front plates, before drilling and installing. I'll be leaving them off, as the front bracket broke off my other SUV many years ago, and I haven't heard a peep from the police about it

I am in NYC and received at least one or may be 2 tickets for no front plate. Both would have been while parked on the street at a meter. My X7 is now a year old and I don't have the front plate installed but I also have not been parking much outside. Given my experience, I would install it.

I lived in Southern NJ for over a year with my X7 and never was bothered for having no front plate. Although, being close to the Pennsylvania border, there were so many cars without front plates. I have since moved to Switzerland, and took my X7 with me. So, now I have a smaller plate in the front. These guys are sticklers for every little rule over here, so I knew I would get a ticket if I didn't. But I found a no-drill solution that works great. Unfortunately, I don't see something like this available in the US.
I mean, I still wish I could go without a front plate, but the smaller plates over here aren't nearly as obtrusive, so I don't even notice it now.
