Dont you just love car parks !!!!

Hey All,

I took my daughter swimming today and returned to my car looking like this !

Ive already had the local 'Dentz' guy around who wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - he reckons a new bumper.

Thoughts, views and any advice warmly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like a new bumper to me too. problem is that the plastic has creased and stretched so when its heated and pulled out, it will likely split. you might be lucky in that a smart repairer will be able to plastweld it, but in any case its going to need paint and by the look of it a parking sensor too.

i feel your pain.. always hate to see this type of thing. there is no way that someone didnt realise they did that.. people can be such jerks..

all the best..

Ok chaps, thanks for the kind words - obvious question, where can I source a genuine M Sport bumper without being screwed ? My car was going in for the rear diffuser to be painted anyway - might as well do the whole thing now !

@ IKN ?

Gutted for you mate.

And the Mrs wonders why I park the other side of the supermarket car park!

It would seem I would be safer parking there though, as she's managed to scratch my passenger door down to the metal slamming her own car door open into mine... on our driveway

Might be an obvious suggestion but don't suppose there's any CCTV worth checking through..

I'll bet the CCTV isn't a good enough system to record number plates.........

Ebay is a good source of second-user bumpers, but buyer beware!

Replacement is the only option here, far too badly mashed to repair.

Insurance?

If you search ebay for 'E92 Rear Bumper' it brings up 16 items - not had chance to look through them all. Some have minor scuffs but if you have gotta get it painted anyway, should not matter as long as it's not damaged. Most between £100-150 ish

here is one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-3-series-E...lenotsupported

Hmm - I have looked at Ebay - worried with what I am buying to be honest.

Is there any other reputable place to buy a bumper other than BMW who will screw me no doubt.

Someone tagged mine a year or so ago doing about 3mph. Small dent but would not repair so new bumper went on. Went through his insurance but from memory the bumper, painted and fitted was about £900 at the stealer.

I would avoid eBay and search the vendor forums on here to find a new bumper. Lots of good stuff around. I feel your pain bud.

This is the reason I reverse into parking spaces and have a front facing Fisheye lens Mini camera along with a 12v Digital Recorder with 4Gb SD card.. 72 hours of decent resolution, motion sensed video. I got mine for £100 the lot from http://www.henrys.co.uk

I've had a similar ding repaired... a specialist body shop with smart repair experience can heat up and allow the plastic's memory to re-set... yes there maybe some crease's and stretch but this will be minimal and can be flattened out with normal bodyshop rubbing down and primer filler... the whole bumper will need removing and spraying cost will be £200 + or - £50

OK sounds interesting, are you anywhere near where I live and therefore recommend a body shop ?
