20s with 22mm Offset Winter Wheels
Winter is essentially over here but I wanted to get a jump on ideas for next winter. Winters are fairly mild here and I have never had to worry about it and just did the all season tires on FWD and AWD.
My 2021 X6 xDrive40i will come with 22 inch wheels and I would like to keep them in pristine condition which is the primary reason I want to switch to cheaper square 20's in the winter. I've been looking at tirerack and tirerack states this 20x9.5 offset 22mm will fit but it will be "aggressive". This X6 will not be lowered and will come with M Sport and DHP options. My concern is how far will these stick out past the fender lip? I would rather keep the edge of the tire at the edge of the fender or just inside and not go past the edge. From the pictures I've seen here it looks like 27mm might be better. MSW TYPE 50 GLOSS BLACK PAINTED WINTRAC PRO - SIZE: 275/45R20 TIRES

go to tiresize.com on the wheel offset comparison tab. plug in stock wheel spec in the first line then the 20" spec in the second line. you'll see the tires' silhouettes comparing them.
I have a G05, but I can confirm ET22 pushes the wheels out more than ET27, which I went with when I switched to 20" square. the fronts pushed out 10mm but the rears pushed in 4mm, so I installed 18mm spacers in the rears only (14mm delta). if I still had OEM 21", I would've installed 12/15mm front/rear spacers. With my Rohana 20x9" ET27, net 10/14mm is close enough, and I'm very happy with the outcome. |
