I've got some oil spots on our exposed aggregate driveway. Any suggestions on the best product to remove them? If it matters, it's new "clean" oil as "somebody" didn't put the rubber gasket on the oil filter the right way so there "might" have been some oil leakage when I pulled the kid's car outta the garage.

The oil spots are from a few weeks ago so it's dried out. Does the kitty litter work if it's not a fresh dropping?

Yes. I’ve made a large mound over dry spots before and it wicks it out of the concrete.

When I make or find accidental drips on my driveway, I wet the spot down first with a watering can then spray the area with Simple Green. Then I hit the area with a scrub brush. This has worked for me dozens of times over the years, but I'm a little OCD so I usually spot the drips before they've been there long.

We are about to move into an older house and the garage is pretty terrible. I think I need to clean it before I start wicking it. I was thinking of using this. Anyone have any experience with it?

Once in a while I will empty out the garage, good sweep and vacuum. Including the ceiling and walls. Spray the floor with a little water, and the purple degreaser. Let it sit for 10 minutes and scrub with the stiff deck scrubbing brush. Rinse and repeat. The floor always feels way better and it smells really nice. Only takes an hour or so.

A quality washing up liquid is very good on oil spots.

Cat Litter - definitely - wear old shoes and grind it in - sweep up and repeat till gone...

It really does depend....

I was working on my concrete garage floor to epoxy it and I had several oil stains I had to get out before I put the epoxy on

I tried EVERYTHIN, (if I can remember)

Kitty litter did frickkin squat
All manner of degreasers if it had the word De and GREASE I used it
TSP
Detergent
Sawdust

NOTHING, in the end I rented a big ass fllor scrubber cleaner from homedepot, it had a diamond cutting stuff on the bottom and then GROUND the top layer off

Messy as hell, but did the job

CONCRETE IS PORUS and UNLESS you get to it right away and put some sawdust or stuff on it, your done for it will soak in INCHES below, and you can't get it out

I used bags and bags did squat

IT depends on HOW porus the concrete is and big the stain is and how long its been there

Been there, done that, got the tshirt and watched the movie

I was also advised to sprinkle cement/concrete powder to remove it, did jack
also tried a point zero tip, on a gas powered pressure washer

This has worked best for me too, but with a commercial absorbent (same as cheap cat litter, just clay) It is the grinding in with your shoe or a brick that makes a difference. Just putting it on top of the oil doesn't do much.

Appreciate the suggestions. I can't see the grinder working as this is on an exposed aggregate driveway. Much the same for cat litter. But I'll be trying some of the chemical suggestions.

Biological laundry detergent can work
