Panoramic roof

Used my personal assistant to close and open my panoramic roof on my 2025 x1 and said unable to open or close does it only work with Digital premium package?

I think its a safety isssue because PA can not see if anything is in the way of it opening or closing, same with windows. I ask PA to open my window and she said "Im sorry Im unable to control your windows"

Probably can’t close roof for same reasons that you can ONLY open side windows with PA & not close them.

I was not aware that Premium Digital enable PA to CLOSE the glass sunroof because of reason I mentioned earlier. I believe PA will open/CLOSE the sunroof headliner sun protection.

nice day here yesterday so I tried playing with this - can't get shade or moonroof to open or close by voice. do you remember the exact phrases you used? Honestly doubt I'll ever use it but there is some novelty to it.

I was a able to get the drivers window to open - but when I tried "close drivers window" it said "Alright, heading to Richmond VA!" tried a few more times and conclude it won't close by voice

Windows will not close in the US through voice control due to supposed safety regulations, also why we can't close the tailgate using the key fob.

re: tailgate - that's an odd one, I used to code that on my previous cars but also had to code the button inside to close too... on my current car i can close from inside by holding the lever up - figured the key fob would too, but you're right I just tried and it will not

I think because there isn't pinch protection on the rear hatch, if someone were to be in the way of the hatch closing there would be no way to stop it and they'd get pinned in. I believe I remember someone posted here they somehow managed to close the tailgate on themselves while leaning into the cargo area.

Funny enough though, I believe other countries can use the fob to close the hatch

is that the case for all X1 U11 from 2023 to 2025? I was loading some stuff and my foot was detected by the kick to open sensor. The lift gate came down but stopped when it hit my head. is that not pinch protection? or did my head act as the pinch protection?

speaking of voice control, I have been wondering why it takes longer for "Hey BMW" to respond in my X1. in my 330i, if I say "Hey BMW, start navigation to _________", it responds and starts navigation within 2 seconds... in my X1, the same voice control command takes at least 3 extra seconds. both cars are the same year.

different tech and proof that [native] Linux based ID 8.5 > Android Auto based ID 9

I say native because technically Android is itself Linux based, but something like 2nd cousin once removed

Honestly I'm not sure, it was reported by another forum member back when the X1 was still relatively new, and I'm just going by memory. It's never happened to me, so I can't speak from personal experience.

I would HOPE that BMW has pinch protection, as it's been a feature on many cars for decades now.

I'd buy this if you also could not close the hatch from the interior button.

I wish I could just eliminate the creaking and cracking noise coming from my sunroof when driving sowly over uneven areas. It took me a moment to figure out what was happening as I seldom even open the shade, so was worried the roof of the car had been damaged. Nope, it is the sunroof. Car has < 1k miles. Ugh.
