Visit to BMW Welt, Museum and Group Classic

Hi everybody,

I have recently returned back from a trip to Munich which included a visit to the BMW Welt, the BMW Museum, a tour of BMW Group Classic and the awesome Plant Munich factory tour.
Both the museum and Welt have recently undergone refurbishment.

So I thought I would share the photos from the trip starting off with the BMW Welt.

The BMW i collection stored upstairs:

Several European Deliveries going on, was very busy:

Plant Munich is undergoing a huge transformation, both inside and outside. During the factory tour, we saw a lot of equipment already setup and being tested to handle the new BMWs to be produced here soon. Additionally, all those cranes you see is for the new plant that is being built which we managed to see too. Very impressive!

A couple of transporters leaving the factory carrying some very nice tourings:

Next up, the museum:

Ode to the 5 Series:

Can you spot yours?

Great to see the E38 Hydrogen 7 on display and all the related display / information:

This a new display at the Museum which is brilliant. It features photos from the worldwide BMW Car Clubs on the walls. And on the main display is a club members car which in this case, is this lovely E36 320i Clubsport on loan from Marcus Pfister.

Sreten made it!

Great pictures. Thanks. I have been there a few times and always fun.

This shows how BMW has lost its way regarding their car designs. They used to build beautiful cars that were also great drivers cars. Now they build completely fugly cars that are still great drivers cars. Their design language needs a complete overhaul.

BTW they are also screwing their most adamant and faithful customers by not bring back Euro Delivery for us Americans. Horrible marketing strategy.

Recently visited as well. I think it's improved a lot since my last visit in 2022. The new M room, the advertising corner or the quite ubiquitous interactive sets (especially in the new engine section) have made it better.

Don't quite get the selection of vehicles BMW keeps, I'm sure they've got more interestingly specced 5 Series variants than the base 525d F10, etc.

beautiful post Mani59
but could you include more pics next time?
instead of the very few you posted this time?

man, i miss the old BMW
comparing the shapes of the old ones and the new ones
no comparison
the E30 M3, the E34, E39, E36 etc
compared to the hideous designs of the newer ones
the rear bumper of the M5 touring looks like no 2 lines get along
each one is in a different direction
like they are not talking to each other

compare that with the E92
i'm getting tired of the new design language which is:
hate it at first
then slowly learn to tolerate it
it never actually gets to liking it or loving it
even their wheel designs are ugly now
the front side grilles on the M2 looks like the UPS/Fedex drop off boxes

maybe this changed when BMW started designing their cars for the chinese market instead of europe and US?

Just looking at your post and we totally missed out on visiting the Classic Museum. Dammit!! We did visit the Welt and the BMW Museum in 2023. And also we were unable to do the Factory Tour as they were doing construction. All more the reason for the wifey and I to go back. Great pictures!

I skipped BMW Motorrad this time due to time constraints however here are a couple of pics I did take.

You can also take a look here at the Motorrad collection in the BMW museum from my trip in 2023.

The yellow 507 was indeed stunning. Elvis's 507 was equally stunning too! (Photo from my 2023 trip).

Just to let you know that access to the Group Classic hall is generally not open to the public so I would recommend you get in touch with the BMW booking team well in advance or reach out to your BMW Car Club
