Who Wants a House Like This?
Known for his modern designs, Los Angeles- based architect Steve Hermann finished his latest project in Montecito, Calif., about four months ago.
Mr. Hermann considers the home, called the Glass Pavilion, his “opus.” When he builds in the Hollywood Hills or Beverly Hills, Mr. Herman says he is usually restricted to a small lot. This lot measures about three-and-a-half acres and gave him the space he needed to create a home featuring walls of glass.... I am sure if you can afford a house like this, you can afford a maid.
Anyways, a BEAUTIFUL design indeed, i surely hope he does have a gated community + not so peaky neighbors, because he is basically putting all of his buisness out there. Edit: Basically there are no neighbors lol ![]() |

I can appreciate the artistic concept, but call me old school...I prefer a home to look like a home. |

I'd love it. On 3.5 acres you'd already have a lot of privacy. I'd get electrochromatic glass or integrated blinds that lower from the ceiling for added privacy.
It's a beautiful home. |

I'd buy it it if it came with that glass that can tint itself on demand (i think they have it on the new boeing 787) (it goes completely opaque)

Seems like someone could bust into your place pretty fucking easily though. Also, wouldn't any of you guys get scared at night time? What if you see a pair of eyes glowing at you when you're about to get into bed? I'd be shitting bricks. Also, it doesn't seem very defensible from a zombie attack... Here are a few pics of some place I saw on the net, I really like the style: |

The property is in Montecito, which is a really safe and wealthy area. Not much crime to speak of. |

+1 a lot of houses like that one tend to have some comfort issues. from the case studies we did in class i learned some of those houses are not habitable for the entire year. there are some successful ones but im not sure about this one. i just saw one photo (5/12) with the sun hitting the inside of the house. his tv is under direct sunlight. good for warming the house during winter but can be really bad during hot summer days.

Honestly I think its ugly as shit..and id never be comfortable in it, not just talking about the privacy either.
Flat plain floors, boring colors, no cozy areas at all in the house, fuckin "living room" looks like a mansion in itself, I would never feel good or comfy about being in that hellish looking plaster-ish bathroom.. Really I cant find one really nice thing about the place, im sure it cost oodles of money n all that bullshit, but really, if I was gonna spend that much money on a house. Itd be a REALLY well laid out and comfy smaller house with a sweet basement, a nicely colored kitchen, smaller bathroom, just all around cozier comfier everything, and ffs more than 1 floor... I feel better in less space anyhows, would never be a fan of large places unless I had loads of stuff or people to fill it with. Finally, if again I had that much money, id build my dream house up on a tall hill or the middle of a valley overlooking countryside or the coast, def something with a breathtaking view and loads of privacy. One can dream ![]() |

I dunno.
I've seen houses with glass walls that looked sick! This is a Bader home that was for sale in West Hollywood about 2 years ago. It had a lot of glass walls and seemed really cozy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
