Who wants a 335i Coupe?

Here's the deal, I just put an offer in on a house and will know if I got it by tomorrow.

So now the 335i I ordered which should be available mid april feels like a waste of money.

The housing market in Regina is going absolutly nuts so the house is about 20,000 more than I wanted to spend but thats the way it goes.

I haven't fully made up my mind, and I'm not sure what backing out of a deal with the stealership is like having put a deposit down.

I'm not 100% sure what I want to do at this time, I have the money to do it. It's just that I will be losing some investment money on a car that will depreciate.

This is very weird for me it's almost like I have to make my 1st grown up decision. Which I know means not take the car and "deal" with only driving a G35 lol. I know which way I should go, but I don't want to.

anyways the car is:
AW e92 Couple Coral Red, Sport PKG, Nav, Premium, CA, Telephone & BMW Assist. Should be in Saskatoon mid-late April.
I have also ordered a Proceed so that will be thrown in with the car(not installed of course)

Convince me to keep it or tell me you want it.

I've heard that the housing market in Canada is going nuts period. Freaking 800 sq/ft apartment condos here are over the 350 K mark. Thats just insane. Anyways, you have a good head on your shoulders, invest in the home. In a decade you'll have equity, rather than a depreciated Bimmer.

With that in mind,
Dibs on Drewbert's Proceed! :P

Lol, well the market isn't that crazy here, but it has sure been a interesting few months. I started looking back in December and houses would last a week or 2 on the marketand sell for the asking price. Now most sell the same day, some even in hours it is a really frustrating thing.

Houses that aren't particularily nice are selling for 10-15K over the asking price. The one I put a bid on I offered 20k over the asking price.

My predictions and hopes are that Regina, and Saskatoon will see a large increase of population over the next few years due to cost of living in other provinces driving the real estate market up.

Houses are still very affordable here, the last bid I put in was for 250K on a 5yr old House 1483 sqft double attached garage.

I sure hope i'm write on this

I think your making a wise decision, next year you'll have equity in the house probably to the tune of 50k at least if it's anything like CA. and dont worry about the dealer, they can turn around and sell that car in a snap...it goes against emotion, but this decision will make a big difference in the course of your life, and driving a G35 isn't that bad...

i dont get it....depreciation of a car is a fact of life...paying a morgage and a car payment is a fact of life (well..for many of us anyway).....i rather have a 335 in my driveway sitting n front of my new house than a G35!!!
however if it has anything with your ability to handle a morgage payment and paying for your car...thats a different story!
if you can handle both payments..stick with your 335...if not..stick with ur G!
cheers

Well the house is mine, and there is no mortgage payment so that is nice. It's just the fact that I will want to drop money into the house and the car to me at this second isn't that big of a deal. I'm sure that will wear off and the car will be back in my life, so I'm gonna stick with the plan and get the car too. Hell you only live once.

Whew, what a relief. I thought the Sask. chapter of the 335 BMW club was about to lose 33% of its membership.

Dammit, I don't want this car. I called the dealership to see if I could get out of it.

I know I change my mind so much, but I really don't wanna spend the 32 grand difference on another car I would rather let the money collect interest or fix up the house.

Do I Have any options?????

What if you slept in the car? Kidding aside, went through some decisions lately. Ended up doing what I wanted. Life is like a ticket to me. Going to try and get the most out of my ticket to the show. See if you can put a calculator to it and make it work. Down here tuna is not all bad.

Well what I want is to have the 32,000 around for spare change while i'm going to school next year and not working. The difference is having a G35 and 32,000 to play around with on top of the 1200 monthy my investment is paying me. Or only having the 1200 bucks a month and a 335i.

I would rather wait the year till i'm actually making money.

Oh well, my mistake someone remind me how much fun the 335i is...lol

I dunno bro. Getting a new house and new car at the same time won't be easy. It's hard moving into a new house and not needing/wanting to do renos, buy new furniture etc. Do you have stuff like a lawn mower etc? Plus home ownership, even without a mortgage, will add significantly to your living expenses. Property taxes, utilities, etc by themselves will come close to eating your entire $1,200 /mo budget. You might end up owning the Bimmer and having to ride your bike/take the bus because you can't afford to put gas in it. As someone posted in the main forum to someone asking a similar "can I afford it?" question, home ownership is something you have to test drive for a few months before you will have an accurate idea of what it's going do to your monthly budget (more damage than you've likely allowed for). By the sounds of it you are still young. You'll be getting a BMW to your liking soon enough.

What did BAS say about canceling and getting your deposit back?

Yeah man, I can afford it but I don't think I want to there is more to life than having a BMW especially when a already paid for G35 is at your disposal.

They weren't considerate at all, they said since it was special order that I had no way out of the binding contract. I asked if they could attempt to sell it for me. They would not hear it, they said I could sell it once I bought it becuase the demand is so high, then I turned it around and said if demand is so high then they should have no problems selling it.

They said they wouldn't help, so I said I would pick the car up and it would be the last time they see me throught the door. Which to me seems like quite the loss if at 25 i'm purchasing a 70,000 dollar car, but I guess that is there loss.

Now all that is said and done, the gentleman that was going to buy my G35 stepped up and said he would really like to buy my 335i. So I think that is what is going to go down.

I'm pretty pumped that i'm actually not getting the car, proud of myself for making the right decision lol.

Hey I'm glad it looks like it'll work out. Keep me posted. Make sure the gent wishing to relieve you of your 335 checks into our club. And I get the feeling that I'll be seeing you fly by me on the Regina hwy in a year, in a new M3.
