200 grand?! They would've been better off making something in the R8/GTR/911 GT3/Turbo price range with 450hp or so. No one is paying that much for a Toyota.

I think they plan on building only 500 or so. They wont make any money off the venture, but it will strike fear into their rivals and make alot of people respect their ability.

Honda did it with their Hydrogen vehicle that are being leased in very small quantities. Look up how much Honda is losing on each car. It is an absurd amount. It shows the world and its rivals that they are leading the way in alternative automotive tech.

The GT-R struck ''fear'' into its rivals. Dont be mistaken kind sir. Those in Germany have taken a very close watch. Even Honda's CEO instructed engineers to beat the GT-R with the NSX before it was canned.

"Striking fear" isn't the proper way to put it, but I can see what you're trying to say.

These halo cars are more of a technical showcase; a display of an automaker's capabilities. They generate interest and respect, despite the fact that they're never usually profitable.

Takes three hours to get it replaced at the local dealer. Not a big problem anymore, especially with BMW extending the warranty to 10 years/120,000 miles for the pump. The worst thing you'll have to suffer with is some decreased performance until you get it replaced.

It doesn't matter if it takes 5 minutes to replace. It is the hassle that you have to go through whenever it goes out..

I know it isnt that much of a hassle to fix but its still a HUGE problem. Potential customers could get stranded until help arrives. Plus, this means that there will be a lot of potential BMW's out there that will crap out after 10/yr 120,000. A Company like Toyota would never have that. What about people having their second pump crap out on the LCI's???

Fair point, and the problem is inexcusable, but it's hardly a big deal. Mine faulted once. I drove to the dealer and got itreplaced shortly after.

So maybe it'll fault once in a period of ownership. It's hatdly a hassle.

The car doesn't just crap out and leave you stranded. It's just slower.

Sorry man I just really hate toyota and their reputation for reliabilty is misleading since they've been experiencing quality issues of their own and many companies have caught up.

Alot of people said they won't pay 80-90k for a Nissan either but there are others that will. If they are having 500-1000 built, I say they will sell out.

If Lexus put a TT v8 in it and made the car around $100k they couldn't produce enough for the demand.... Lexus reliability in a supercar

Nice to see Toyota produce a V-10 for consumers. It's about time they get serious about this car. If I recall correctly the first teaser was at the 2005 NAIAS.
