M4 vs F430

Looking at trading the M4 for a F430. Would you trade your car for the F430? Anyone here ever own a F430 ? Pros ? Cons?

As long as you're willing to give up the massively more practical advantages of the M, the far lower maintenance and repair costs of the M - and reliability - then go for it! I've driven the F430 and it is an incredibly exciting car to drive - feels much more exciting than the 483 horsepower rating would suggest on paper!!

I've been researching and noticed Ferrari depreciates less than BMWs.

Here are the pluses of an F430 as of 2016-

1. Handling
2. Engine Sound
3. Badge / Exotic

Here are the negatives-

1. Technology
2. Dated Interior and arguably exterior
3. Engine (yes, engine)... its by no means fast nor particularly out of this world for 2016
4. Insane Maintanence and insurance costs
5. Terrible single clutch automated tranny

I say all this because I had a friend that had an F430 for sometime and later sold it for a newer M6... he was very glad to see it go... and it never really lived up to the hype. Once the exotic factor moved away... it was semi cool at best... Now if were discussing a 458, this wouldn't even be a thread. Call me crazy, but arguably a GT4 is more special at this point... lighter, still sounds great, and handles better.

If you're worrying about depreciation, stop thinking about high end cars at all.

Actually, most Ferraris hold their value very well or appreciate over time, especially the very low volume models.

+1

a low mileage Ferrari will increase over time if purchased at the right price point, and properly cared for.

the downside is the annual costs plus you cannot drive it but a couple thousand miles per year.

F430.

No matter how much I love the f8x, you're talking about a Ferrari here. They are timeless, and incredibly exciting to drive.

I wouldn't spend the extra dough on a 430.

Has been outpaced by too many other Ferraris, from 548 to 488 to FF to LaF to etc..... It will impress some ladies at the bar, but will always be a "6th best" car to those who know.

I personally wouldn't since my M3 is my daily. I'd consider it only as a toy car.

I'd wait a bit more and get a 458 after the 488 hit the used market, or go for a gallardo as it looks less outdated imo

Do it, it's a Ferrari for God's sake, if you need it only for weekend spirited driving.

Pro's:
-better traction
-glorious engine sound-track
-high revving V8
-lighter
-better handling, mid-engined car
-Ferrari
-Ferrari

I would do it in a heart beat. I've driven the f430 and the experience is unbelievable. If the car is a weekend car and maintence costs are manageable for you just go for it.

Yup. The Scuderias, GTOs, etc appreciate significantly more than the standard models.
