added 3-month trial of Driving Assistance Plus, but it still says "activating" and only the adaptive cruise control part works(i.e. follow the car ahead and adjust speed according to that car's speed). The lane or steering assistant is not working. With adaptive cruise control on, the car will drift past the left or right lane markings if I let go of the steering wheel. Although... after the car is 2 or 3 feet beyond the left or right lane markings, the assistant would VIOLENTLY bring the car back to the center, but the violent steering always ends up pushing the car past the lane marking on the opposite side.
I looked into every setting that I could see and nothing made any difference. When I looked into the subscription page, the only thing that looked suspiciously wrong was the fact that it said "activating"... (all the other services said "activated") Since I did sign up for the trial almost 4 days ago, should it still be saying "activating"? or is that even the cause of the violent steering correction by the car? I'm still on the road trip right now. When I'm back tomorrow, I plan to call a BMW Genius and ask, but I suspect that they'll just give me some answer from a script.... |

When you turn it on using the 1/0 button on the left side of the steering wheel what message pops up? I've got the Pro version and it says that Driver Assistance is active or something. The alternative message is a cruise control message.
Sounds like the only feature that's working is the lane departure warning as opposed to lane keeping. |

Thanks! I give the full hard reset a try when I get home tomorrow. Don't want to do that while I'm hundreds of miles away from home.

I subscribed to the 1-month free trial for the remote start and could never get it to work properly, even after calling the dealer's Genius. Not sure if the issues are related.

Is it just me or does it fee like I bought a 1990s computers and called tech support when something wouldn't work? At least it's not my friends who have Teslas. They tell me that they sometimes feel like buying new phones with 4 wheels and a couple of electric motors. |

While I'm just doing this on a 3-month free trial, isn't BMW's goal to get me to fork over $950 at the end of the trial? If so, it's going very well. It's basically the adaptive cruise control that comes as standard(free) even on cheaper Toyotas costing less than $20,000 3 or 4 years ago. |

I only waited around 5 or 6 months. Trust me, the waiting will seem like nothing when the car arrives your dealership. Time really does fly when you're waiting for a new car to cross the Atlantic Ocean.

for me, it's more like cry once, can't pay BMW.. because they can't even get the trial to start.
I was actually thinking about paying $950 after the 3-month trial ended. Unfortunately, somehow BMW is not making it easy even for the 3-month trial to start. Hopefully they can figure out what's going on. I'm basically just waiting for them to take my money. (but they can't accept it somehow) |

UPDATE (!)Another 60 mile journey today and the Assisted driving (steering) part of the App had downloaded and is now working. Still says " activating " so something else coming. Blind spot monitoring? Should that be there?

since day one, my X1 had the amber blinking blind spot triangles when cars/pedestrians were on my left or right side... but I think it's probably blind spot warning is standard equipment on the X1 for the US market?

BMW USA sure worked fast. After they started a service ticket on the phone 3 days ago, this message popped up on my screen while I was driving this morning. Problem solved and Driving Assistance Plus 3-month trial is working fine now. A couple of hours later, the BMW Genius called me to tell me that the activation issues was resolved and asked me to try it. I told him that it was already resolved this morning. Glad to see that they were actually keeping track of the issue that I experienced. but it does not keep lanes as well as many inexpensive Korean and American minivans from the last 4 years. So it's highly unlikely that I'll consider paying $950 to keep it after the trial is over. |

So, is Driving Assistant Plus the same features as included in the $1700 Active Driving Assistant Pro option?
If so, why would one opt to include the $1700 Active Driving Assistant Pro option if it can be obtained as a one-time subscription after the sale for a on-time payment of $950? Or, are they different features? If so, what does Driving Assistant Plus offer over the factory included Active Driving Assistant Pro option? |
