apparently BMW is forcing me to have a second 3-month trial of Driving Assistant Plus
I used the free 3-month trial of Driving Assistant Plus in my X1. That trial ended around the end of August. The function was removed, so it just went back to the normal cruise control.
Two days ago, I got a notification on my iPhone(see screenshot below). It said "Reconnect to Driving Assistant Plus"??? I thought maybe BMW was offering to let me subscribe on a one-time, permanent basis with a discount, like some sort of early Black Friday sale? I clicked on the notification and it took me to the BMW app and eventually opened a browser where I was already logged into my BMWUSA acct. I saw that the prices for monthly($20) and one-time($950) were still identical, so I didn't go any further. Strangely, when I was in my X1 yesterday, I got a pop-up message that Driving Assistant Plus was ready. (!!!) I kind of panicked because I thought maybe I accidentally bought it. Then I remembered that BMW didn't have my credit card info, since I never gave it to them.(not before the last free trial.. or yesterday) I looked in my ConnectedStore and somehow it was showing expiration date in February, so 3 months from now. I tested it this morning on the interstate and sure enough, it was on Driving Assistant Plus(adaptive cruise controls). Edit: so I ended up calling BMW because I didn't want to end up with a surprise billing in the future. The rep looked into it and was unable to find out why. We did come to the conclusion that it was another 3-month trial, as indicated by the expiration date. (since they don't sell subscriptions for 3 months... only 1-month, 1-year, 3-year or forever) The rep suggested that I wait until February to see if the thing ends. Guess that's that.... They want you to buy it. Maybe you’ll like it after another 3 months lol. I for sure will not because it’s wonky when the lane splits and I know for sure my brakes will be gone within a year using it.

Yeah, sounds like they're just pushing it...probably not enough people picking it up for $950, which is a ridiculous price for that "service". I had it on my '20 x3mc and hated it frankly, so no way would I pay ANY $ for it

I should have just gotten a Toyota for half the price and that comes with adaptive cruise control standard. (yes, even a cheap Corolla comes with it standard like on my 20-year-old niece's first car that she bought 4 years ago) At least BMW isn't charging people for Apple CarPlay anymore, right?
