Well, since 16.3 didn't really add any new features I want, I'll just stay on this software for now since it works great with my X1. It's curious that I seem to be the outlier with no issues though, I wonder if it has something to do with geographical location since I'm in the middle of the Pacific? Any other users in Europe or Australia having GPS issues with CarPlay?

European (Germany) user. Have had issues since delivery in Germany and on a trip to Luxembourg. Haven’t checked in a few weeks as I haven’t needed the GPS. Will check later this week

Had my worst error yesterday with the phone in my lap (ie not on the wireless charger). GPS placed me a few miles across town!

I tried this on a few local short trips using my galaxy-s22 (sitting in wireless charger tray) and did not see any problems (android auto using google maps wirelessly)

I think most users with issue are iPhone users..?
will try wife's iPhone next time.

FWIW, when I have this issue, it has nothing to do with the charging dock; phone is usually in my pocket at the time.

I have two friends who have been using Apple Maps via CarPlay in their X1s.(since November and December) They said they never experienced any problems. One has iPhone 12 Mini and lives in CT and travels to Boston every week, the other one has iPhone 13 Pro and lives 30 miles west of Chicago. They are both elderly in their 50s, so I don't know if they just aren't noticing the problem?

However, there are also many iPhone users here who saw this problem regularly.

There's no way NOT to notice the problem. GPS wants to put you on the road if it can, so if it is locating you 100 feet adjacent to the road, every time you come up to a cross street, or if there's a parallel street, it tries to recalculate your route. There's is absolutely no way you could drive all the way from CT to Boston without noticing. Unless they are just so "elderly" that they are using the BMW factory nav and don't even know it....

I had the issue with my phone out of the dock on 3/3 trips that I made today. Each trip about 30mins atleast. I even restarted my iPhone to see if it mattered but both Google Maps and Apple Maps had me about 100ft away from the road/street I was driving on. It as if something inside the car was interfering with the GPS signal of the phone. The moment I stepped out of the car, my GPS position was perfect. Im running iOS 16.3 on an iPhone 12 Pro Max and the car is on the latest update - 11/2022.44

I just saw a poster on the Hyundai forums who describes he is having the exact same problem with CarPlay on his Santa Fe (not sure if wired or wireless yet).

No problems with any maps, but when I put my iphone 14 in the charging cradle, it frequently triggers my apple wallet and asks me to confirm by double pressing the power button. Anyone else experience this?

Happens to me too. The wireless charger also doubles as the nfc reader for the digital key, so it will sometimes trigger it. I just press the side button to close it.

This trouble has recently started for me as of yesterday, thought it was just a weird little GPS issue but then noticed that I could not get Waze or GoogleMaps to properly locate the vehicle. Same issue though, has me about 100-200 ft off the road but then just starts spinning the map around as I'm driving eventually forcing me to move to Spotify to not distract my driving.

What is funny though is that this morning it did the same exact thing on my usual drive to work...however when I looked at my phone it still had the same directions/turns listed that I would expect to make. So, I'm not sure if it's a GPS issue or a handshake issue between the phone and the head unit/Apple CarPlay.

Bumping this thread as yesterday my Google Maps glitched me about a mile from my actual location in the middle of navigating to an unfamiliar part of town.

And to the defenders who say just use BMW Nav, I'm sorry but it is truly an inferior product compared to Google or Waze in so many respects. REALLY hoping this issue gets sorted out by the end of the month.

BMW navigation is not really free... just lumped together with other options, yes? if it's really inferior, should complaints be lodged against BMW as well?

No one's arguing that BMW's nav is just as good. But to those crying that it's a safety hazard for CarPlay nav to not work....relax.
