I'd love to see that too, geese hatching out of duck eggs

This is Scott's better half...he thought I should make a comment on the thread regarding the Finch nest. The little one that flew out of the nest yesterday flew pretty well. Our last little girl just had a little trouble attaching her little feet to a branch. I personally choose to believe that all four of them made it and are happily enjoying the wind in their feathers and the tasty worms after the rain. They were adorable and fun to watch grow up. I expect we will see them soon either in the bird bath or on the bird feeder in the back yard.

The babies and the parents are gone.

At least the flower basket still looks decent. It is a little worse for wear from supporting a bird family, getting little water, enduring hot days, and then the wind storm.

As we bid farewell to our finches, we welcome a new duck family!

Fortbimmer, by posting the picture of those fresh eggs you have adopted this thread. I hope you will keep us up to date on the status of your ducklings and possibly dovelings (is that a word?). I think that with your ducks this thread should just get better and better.

Thanks for sharing.

looks like we are being taken over by birds/doves/pigeons/ducks/geeses

I hope homeland security is doing something about these slow and discrete take over/invasion...

That's a pretty big "nest" to fill.

The Doves (front yard)

Maybe I'm over analyzing this too much, but here are my thoughts on the Doves in the front of the house.

Perhaps this is where the term "Bird Brain" comes from.

that is a rather precarious place to set up nest....any plans to move the family?

Nope, I'm just a casual observer.

Everything is just "ducky" out back under the burning bush however.

I think that is very unsafe way to raise kids, i might have to call in CPS (children Protective Services)

I think that the Dove's wised up and moved onto a better location to lay their eggs. They have not been around this weekend.

No ducklings yet, from what I understand they head to water within a day of hatching. Going out of town this week, so won't have an update until next Friday.

Say tuned.......

Qwack..qwack..waddle..waddle

So...

I had to go out of town this week, left on Monday and got back Thursday afternoon. The duck and eggs were all there on Monday and according to my dad (who picked up the mail on Wednesday) they were gone. I guess that Ducklings don't waste alot of time sitting around in the nest.

There are a couple of ponds near my house so I went duck hunting this morning but did not have much luck. I guess that they have moved on to bigger and better things.

Good luck ducky's
