Interesting piece in Wired today about the crash.
http://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/12...tories+2%29%29 I thought this quote was rather annoying: Quote:
Oh well, at least he didn't end the interview by screaming "FIIIINAAAAALLL WAAAAAVE!!!!!"

I did a quick google and found a picture of the Yamaguchi Prefecture Expressway Traffic Police Unit.

Are you sure that picture isn't of the drivers? If I would expect anyone to look like a bunch of dorks it would be the guys who crashed their supercars, not the cops who had to sort out their mess. I also highly suspect the word "narcissist" is a translation which is not quite accurate.

I doubt it -- it reeks of specificity. I suspect it's one of those "adopted" words that comes through more or less the same in both languages. The officer is leaping to conclusions based on stereotypes.
I also love how this story portrays these Ferrari owners as careless daredevils driving at reckless speeds. Oh my goodness, they were driving at 85 miles per hour! The terror! The humanity! I'm shocked -- SHOCKED -- to find speeding going on on these roads! Oh look, I found another picture of Chief Inspector Isejima:
