100 BMW Z1 Gather in Munich for 25th Anniversary Celebration
BIMMERPOST NEWS 100 BMW Z1 Gather in Munich for 25th Anniversary Celebration 100 Z1s and 180 participants from 12 countries gathered at BMW HQ in Munich last month to celebrate the Z1's 25th anniversary. The Z1, BMW's first ever Z model, made its debut at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show, the same show where BMW revealed its first ever 3 Series Touring model (based off E30). The Z1 borrowed from the E30 325i, including interior parts and 2.5L 168 HP inline 6 engine and featured some very innovative construction for its time including a monocoque construction made up of individual steel sheets that constituted the car’s backbone, automatic retractable doors and a multi-link design for the rear suspension. Detailed Z1 info. Approximately 8,000 Z1s were delivered in the period spanning from March 1989 to June 1991. |

I don't think we got the Z1 in the US market... I remember it but I don't remember it having doors ...I thought it was like a BMW go kart or something.

Doors don't "open", they slide down inside the body, cool feature, it is a nice collectors car.

The door is painted in the SIX factory colors that BMW offered the Z1 in.

I know some have made their way into the US. I know for sure in the Washington DC area there is a Techno Violet Z1, bc a friend of mine sent me a picture of it!
Z1's seem to sell for 15K euros to 32K euros over here. I have had the pleasure of seeing quite a few of them over here. Just today, I was at a classic car show and saw two Z1's! I love the bark-y exhaust note they have and the LSD snatching noises as they pull away on gravel or sandy roads.
