New shoes for my land yacht
Once I had the 325 and 328, I decided to get something as un-BMW as possible: A 1971 Buick Riviera, one of my favorite cars ever. I'd been driving on the stock 15" rally wheels since purchasing but finally upgraded. 17" American Racing with Vogue inner whitewall/gold stripe tires. Needless to say, I'm pretty happy with how it came out! It's fun to drive such a purely American car on July 4... It was supposed to be in a parade yesterday but it was cancelled due to the horrendously stormy/floody weather we're having up here...

Wow, how long and wide is it? Parking must be a problem?
Those 17's look quite nice on a car of this size and the car is in such good condition.. |

Thanks guys. It is massive, just over 18 feet long and 6.5 feet wide. The 455 takes unleaded and is only rated at like 250HP (stock). Don't even ask about the mileage!
It's a very occasional/show car, so I usually know where it's going and plan parking accordingly. I don't just take it anywhere, and I've never had to parallel park it. (It is fun to get in my garage because I have to take a hard turn into the last bay...) I backed into the tire selection: Blackwalls - not right for this car White Letters - too muscle-car-ish Regular Whitewalls - wouldn't have worked with those wheels So, like the car itself, it's a very unique look, some people will dig it and some won't, but I'm really digging it ![]() How much did I pay for it? These cars can be had for a surprisingly reasonable price. They are not as sought after as Chevelles, Camaros, etc. This one is an original engine, but high-mile (158K), restored, with incomplete history. A documented/survivor car like this might go for 10-12k, a "driver" anywhere from 4-8k depending on options and condition. A "GS" takes it up a bit. Mine was already completely restored, and as you can see, pretty nicely (including interior). This one was a bench seat/column shift, it now has buckets and I'm rounding up parts for the console/floor-shift conversion. No 8-track, it was an under-dash add-on option. I kept the AM/FM radio in the dash and put a modern stereo in the glove compartment, usually playing music off my phone via bluetooth ![]()
