If this saloon/sedan makes it past China I reckon there will almost certainly be an M performance version. BMW appears to be adopting this more as new versions come out.

Would have to be x drive, most competitors are 4wd. This render is really good and I hope they take some inspiration from it.

As for the M1 moniker ... why not reuse it? (Yes I'm goading you BMW). It's not like anyone on the board of BMW is ever going to permit/make another supercar... That's made very clear to us members on this forum who almost unilaterally ask for one and we're told it won't happen... Stop pretending to us that it'll mean something again
I think you meant to say most competitors are AWD not 4WD.

How else are they going to make room in the line up for minivans, trucks, and probably M-sport bulldozers? :P

I highly doubt BMW will be making an M1 that isn't a special car. That's probably the reason why the 1M was called the 1M not the M1

omg so much fapping with nomenclatures

I guess we're saying the same thing: let's hope BMW comes up with a RWD platform for the 1 series in US-Europe
I kinda miss having a hot hatch with a big trunk door on the back and 2 doors on the back.
That would be a GTI or something, but I still would want a RWD car

We have one here, the M135i is completely unique as an RWD hot hatch

Let's hope in its wisdom BMW remembers its USP when they release the next one. Or if they don't please at least don't patronise me on how, as a 1 series owner, I don't know that my car is RWD and that customised mirror caps and stripes are more important.

Not 4WD of course

An M2 GranCoupe would be more interesting.
1series + FWD... nothing special here...
There is already a boring S3 compared with the M135i and even a non sense RS3 compared with the M2.
I hope that the next generation 2 series will be lighter and we'll finally see that GranCoupe.

That front end looks way better than the F22/F87.
